Chainsaw Man Director Ryu Nakayama and the Studio Mayflower team discuss their Doors-inspired game including yokai spirits, the creepiness of inns, and their zombie weapons of choice. Horror long ago sank its roots into Roblox as a fan-favorite genre, with games like The Mimic and Piggy possessing players’ minds alongside other delightfully creepy horror games on Roblox. The genre has grown ...
Half-life’s cockroach AI is more advanced than most enemies in Roblox horror games… Think about that. Instant death enemies aren’t very fun to deal with in most games. If you provide tools to prevent it like in Amnesia: The Bunker, it is fine. Otherwise, if its just based on running away I would make them hurt the player.
With Easter Eggs, players may be able to discover new endings to games. Perhaps, if a game is a cat-chases-mouse type of horror game, you can (maybe) learn about the cat’s backstory. We don’t see that often. It is a nice touch though. Usually in games, the threat, let’s take it in this case - a killer, we don’t know anything about the ...
Look at the games The Mimic and Judy. These both have unique story lines and characters. Being a lover of the game The Mimic, I think it would benefit you to write the plot and design the characters before starting the map. After that, you could make the game like the way they are built which is a pretty good template for horror games.

Hi guys, over the past year I’ve been working on this “horror” game with a gameplay similar to something like Flee the Facility. Basically in the best scenario, 4 Survivors will attempt to escape a location/place while a Killer tries to stop them. That would be the case, but since no one knows about the game, I don’t get nearly enough players to playtest the game, so there might be ...
I have been making experiences on the roblox platform resulting in millions of visits and robux over the course of a decade. As my time is coming to an end I wish for everyone to make their own fun with my creations and perhaps learn a thing or two while exploring my old code. Starting today my most developed games and projects will be uncopylocked and open sourced to everyone to use, whether ...
Hey everyone, I have open-sourced my horror game Midnight Hours. This game has brought me a lot of joy, and I sincerely hope it can offer the same you some of you. Midnight Hours is a semi-sandbox, slightly original horror game. You must survive the night (avoiding a creepy monster, of course), unlocking different endings in the process. This game began as a quick summer project - something to ...
Nice tutorial. Recently I’ve seen a lot of horror games (On Roblox and separate games) have no jumpscares at all, and rather just have a really eerie atmospheres. They’re some of my favourites to play, because you get that fear of the unknown, but without jumpscares. Games with jumpscares are good too, but if you’re like me, you might quit a game after getting scared lol.
Ask people and formulate a brainstorm of ideas, then narrow them down to find one you really like. I’d suggest going through all other ROBLOX horror games and compile themes they use, then try and spin some themes of them.
