If your organization uses Microsoft Exchange or another SMTP service or server, you can set up the SMTP relay service to route outgoing mail through Google. You can use it to: Filter messages for spam and viruses before they reach external recipients Apply email security and advanced Gmail settings to outgoing messages
Reply codes The SMTP reply codes refer to specific parts of the email service, and can indicate issues like: The intended recipient isn't registered with the service. The message was marked as spam or as having a virus. The sender’s domain was identified as a source of spam. The message violated your company’s email policy.
Gmail's SMTP server is smtp.gmail.com, port 465, SSL. Use your full email address as the username. If your email program supports modern authentication (OAuth2), use that. If not, you will need to get an application specific password to use in place of your account password.
gsmtp (Google SMTP) is added to all errors. gcdp (Google Custom Domain Policies) is added to errors resulting from customized rules created by a Google Workspace administrator.
