In the 1960s, Fisk University stood at the center of Black intellectual life and organized resistance. Nashville was a testing ground for ideas, discipline, and strategy, and on Fisk’s campus, young men of Alpha Phi Alpha were being formed in that crucible. This was not simply fraternity life. It was preparation. Founded as the first Black Greek-letter fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha emphasized scholarship, leadership, and service at a time when access to power was still tightly controlled. By the 1
