Kuwait Little Theatre (KLT) was established in 1948 in Ahmadi and was the first community theatre in the Middle East. Having performed English language theatre for over 60 years, it was closed in 2011 due to a dangerous chemical that was used in construction, asbestos, being found in the ceiling. The Kuwait Oil Company has since renovated the building and has kept it preserved for historical purposes.
